East Lothian is an area of gently rolling agricultural land southeast of Edinburgh, with a picturesque coastline mixing rocks, sandy beaches and cliffs.
There is a network of reasonably quiet rural lanes for cycling on, and parts of National Routes 1 and 76 pass through the area. The coastal town of Dunbar was the birthplace of the pioneering conservationist John Muir.
